Slightly surprised the Wii is still selling so well. Nobody i know wants one any more, they've all realized it's not actually that great a console.

I just bought one for my GF, a friend of mine also bought one for his wife and another guy I know got one last month for his birthday ... opinions are great ...

I didn't say that so no i don't agree with that statement.

Answer me this, do you firmly believe the Wii deserves the title of the best selling console ever made? I don't think it's good enough to warrant such stupidly high sales figures.

Do you honestly feel it is better than both the 360 and PS3? And the PS2, N64, Gamecube, xbox, megadrive, SNES, Dreamcast etc. etc. Looking at sales figures the general public seem to think so which surprises me. That's all i was trying to say.

I agree with you tbh. we have one at our student house, and It never gets used :/ Just nothing there to warrant playtime.

Tbf 710k is by no means poor. All three consoles are doing incredibly well at present, especially considering everyone is tightening the ol' purse strings at the moment.

Anal corrections aside, yes it is interesting that the lowest next-gen figure has been highlighted in the title.

It's hard.

On the one hand it's a great month, a massive YoY hike and in touching distance of the competition.
On the other this was supposed to be their month, their holiday, their year. Web Bush Morgan, Pachter, other analysts and the whole of Gaf, PS3forums et al all predicted after the massive price cut, the slim relaunch, a massive TV advertising campaign and AA exclusives incl. Uncharted 2 that the PS3 would outsell the 360 by 200k, maybe more this month. Sony even came out a week ago boasting about their performance.
The 360 outselling it and having such a mammoth lead in Software sales has put a bit of a dampner on things. Add the PSPs pitiful sales, the fact the 360 is no longer selling at loss and 3rd place in home consoles and last place in handheld doesn't paint a great picture for a division already over $4.7b in deficit since the launch of the PS3.

If you're about to say the PS2 has sold more, that's obvious, it came out 7 years before the Wii. It's selling faster than the PS2, if you were to compare the sales figures at the same point in their lifetime the Wii would be well ahead of the PS2. It is the best selling console ever so far in terms of quantity during a certain period of time, it's not sold the greatest quantity though (yet).


Or is there another console i've overlooked?
