Lats exercise

One arm rows are mainly an upper back exercise I recon...allthough the lat get hit a wee bit. With dumbells its pretty hard to hit lats.....stuff like chins, pulls ups, lat pull downs etc. are the best for lats.

When doing chins and pull ups or lat pull down, vary the angle at which the bar comes down. i.e. tilting back and pulling down or up (if doing chins) to your chest will hit the mid/lower lats, keeping more vertical, will engage the traps and outter lats more.

Seen far too many guys doing one arm rows to their upper back/shoulder area in a vertical motion, no wonder they're working that part of the body.
I have always pulled the DB up and back in an arc toward my waist and i ONLY ever feel it in my lats. I make sure my upper body is parallel with the ground.
Trouble is.....my flippin knees hurt, so i don't do em too often now

cheers I'll have to do some lat pull downs at the gym then, When I do rows it mainly hits my traps and shoulders not lats.

Chins are better than lat pull down imo. Start with Chin ups & pull ups and do as many as you can for 3-4 sets. keep doing that and you should see an improvement with the amount you can do :)

you can slso do em standing with one arm on the bench;)

remember to do ALL the exercises for good all roundback development, dont forget to include those deadlifts..a good session a back takes me about 2 hrs to cover everything;)

 I think that is a little overkill mate, unless you have a good ole rest in between each set, which for me would defeat the object and takes any intensity away.

Agreed. Waste of time spending so long in the gym. Either you're having too many rests, or you're doing too much, or not pushing yourself enough if you're able to maintain a solid 2 hour session.

Dependant on the load and type of exercise you can do a sufficient upper body workout in about 45 minutes. I personally recommend doing pyramid sets and descending sets.

I don't recommend anybody anything as it's up to them to decide what sort of training they want to do - I don't suggest my training routine to most either as they'd struggle! :D

ROAARRRR!!! :D

I used to get my workouts done in 30 mins (had to shower and get back to work), so when i was in the right frame of mind they were really intense. I could still get my back workout done by using 4 sets of either 3 or 4 different exercises.
