Really though, how often do you use the word syntax outside of computing? Maybe linguists use it occasionally but apart from that most people would never use it. I don't think I'd ever heard the word until I started programming.

I used it a lot in GCSE English, along with context, onomatopoeia, metaphor, simile, verbs, nouns and protrusions.
