LCD HDTV TV Brands - Which is best

cheers :D

(i hope i am too lol)

I'm certain you will be mate. I have the 26" version and couldn't be happier.

You'll be pleased to know that the LG has one other bonus over the Samsung, aside from aesthetics (which is subjective anyway). The LG supports 1:1 pixel mapping over both it's HDCP compatibile digital ports (DVI & HDMI). Whereas the Samsung only offers this capability over its VGA port.

What this essentially means is that you can hook up your PC via either the DVI or HDMI port and get a perfect picture. On top of that since these ports are HDCP compatible, once Windows Vista is released you will be able to play HD material through it. Something you couldn't do on the Samsung.

parents have been looking for a new lcd tv and liked the look of the LG 32" one you've just bought - we're going to go see a few tvs again tomorrow to make a final decision - they also want a good dvd-recorder/hdd unit so i have to look at what's good before we set off, as i'm the only one who knows anything about this area :p (and i don't know all that much!)

parents ended up getting a 32" sony bravia set - very nice look - i wasn't overly keen on it in store but once we got home and set it up i was much more pleased with the idea of having it there from now on :)
Mums been tasked with getting hold of a component cable today so as we can see what the dvd recorder can do with some dvd's - looked nice enough over scart so should be good

Yea i am really looking forward to making use of the ol' HDMI as our living room is only just big enough to sit far enough away for the 32" screen not to look blurry - it's nice with dvd's, just analogue tv looks pants - so the digital tuner built in comes in rather handy :p :)

got it yesterday. Plugged it in and it fried like my old tv lol. Looks like it was the expansion plugs that were guilty and their protection had slackened. Got it replaced anyway and got a new belkin expansion with protection and that and its running like a beast at the minute. Going to test my 360 on it tomorrow night and take a few pics of it sitting next to my pc. Didnt look as big in the store :P

Cheers for the help chaps

Im sorry for bumping this but does anyone know what would cause the TV to have mad flickering and distortion on the screen? It also has this massive pink bar going down the right. All can be seen faintly on the screenshot below. And yes all those little boxes are the flickering, not the webcam. I think its gonna give me a seizure soon lol :D

It looks like the timing is out. What is the source and which type of connection?

source? It is all channels, including my consoles. It isnt just picture disortion, the built in menus and everything is messed up. It seems to fix itself after about 20mins of being plugged into the plug socket again, but thats still a problem :(. If i keep it plugged in it works fine i think, but i dont like leaving the house or sleeping with it plugged in :D

Slyman

Sounds like duff electrics which only work properly when warm. Either keep it plugged in or replace it.
