LCD Or Plasma

The inane preaching of products hes never had with total disregard to their cost is getting pretty tiring in all honesty.

Its like Badbob v2.

Next Ad will be telling up a 768 panny PX TV does SD better than 1080 PZ to support his resolution doesnt make much difference argument.... oh no hes already done that.:p

I bought a Tv, and you know what? it is fine for me.

I have now stopped lookin, reading and even caring about settings, calibration etc and just got on with using it :D

I certainly am no that impressed with the PX80 series. I was comparing real life use too, I have even tried setting up my mates PX80 - even then the blacks borders on movies are still grey.

If people only talked about the products they had owned then they'd having noting to compare it to. A lot of us would spend out time telling everying to keep saving up and buy Kuro's.

Excellent. I've always maintained that the best TV is the one that you like, regardless of what anyone else says.

This is correct :D Same with cars and driving ability lol

Seriously though, people get too hung up on things like this. You can end up buying something and then 3 months later comparing it to all the latest stuff and just getting despressed about it.

I read all this stuff off Ad before and expected the Samsung to be crap. In reality it wasn't. Picture looked very similar, more vibrant colours on the Sammy. However it was the Panasonics dull case Vs the Rose black Samsung one that made the decision a long with my gaming/HD-DVD use.

I am very happy with the Standard definition picture though.

TVs are so cheap now you could buy both anyway! :D

So there wasnt much difference, yet you still got the 1080p one.... and i guess its not ISF'd yet anyway?

I dont get why people give out advice thats different to what they did  Good to see you answered the question you quoted aswell. Or are you too far from your screen to see the resolution of a question mark?

No I am approximately 2ft from a 17inch tft, if it was 1080p I would be easily close enough to benefit.

I chose the 5090 not for the fact of it having 1080p. if you care to look back over my previous posts (if you can be bothered) then you will see I have mentioned that theblack levels on on my 4280XD and to an extent the 508XD were not good enough for me in a dark room, and the biggest change with the 9G was the blacks being about as dark as the bezel, plus I also mentioned the better dynamic range. This is the the difference between the darkest and brightest parts of the image, so with the even darker blacks and the whites being a lot brighter (a good change to most plasmas characterised as dull) giving a more 3D image, and better colour reproduction, it was a no brainer for me. Plus the 1080p was as I always say 'The cherry on the cake'

Not ISFd yet but it has already been arranged and sorted, just need to book an actual date in the next month, bumtious seems to be a busy boy these days.

Note, I said that I mistook which tvs I was comparing, as I had a demo one weekend (508xd and 1080p test), then saw the newly arrived 5090 the next weekend. Search for the thread I made about it in the avforums plasma section entitled 'demo fun @ T**'. Can't mention their full name but its the company bumtious works for.

I only give out hard recommendations if I have seen the set in question and its rivals. If I have not seen something then I will tell people to go and have a look and give some advice on other possibilites. But i will still tell people to go and have a look, but with advice on printing out some rough settings to alter the instore sets too, as there are still soo soo many people who rubbish advice given from people because they believe the salesman and the way the tvs were setup in store.

-Ad- Sits about 6' from a 50" screen, hence he's got 1080p (badbob does the same).

I sit 8' from a 42" screen and I've got a 720p.

Where is the issue?

I game at about 6ft, especially for wipeouHD which sends my eyes loopy after a while, and sometimes watch films and even SD tv from there late at night when SWMBO is asleep, thus I have to get close to plug in the headphones. The sofa is about 9 or so feet away where I watched most things from, and the size is about right. Wish I had kept the 4280XD for a few more months and sold it on, would have made more than I did for it 2nd hand with a 5yr warranty :D

Now I have fed the troll enough cookies, next I will give you an e-ovary punch ;)

Don't get me started, the new thinner KRP pioneers are out, but although the PQ is a little better, no real benefit for me by having a 3cm thinner panel and separate media box. I still want one though :D

Samsung arn't crap, their picture isn't bad, it's just the their inherent problems, loads of niggling problems that they attempt to fix with new firmwares every so often, which fix some things and create more problems.

It's not fact that you will have problems, but it depends on the luck of your set, and what sources you will connecting to it.

Enjoy the set, you seem to be happy with it, and I hope you don't get any problems with it or blown components. But even if it lasts 3 years and goes, LCDs will be stupidly cheap by then with OLED displays probably coming out.

Now onto another note, I am certainly not a badbob so quit it, we don't preach about products like asprilla said. You don't see us forcing people to buy kuros when they ask for a £600 spec me thread :rolleyes::rolleyes: We actually give proper recommendations, or if the same thread has appeared 3 times in the last few days then I will probably just put down '£600 for tv and films, get the px80', as searching would find many previous answers from us lot. I actually have a life and don't have the time or frankly care about typing out the same things day in day out because people can't use the search function.

Next Ad will be telling up a 768 panny PX TV does SD better than 1080 PZ to support his resolution doesnt make much difference argument.... oh no hes already done that.

Yep because every px80 vs pz has looked better for SD. Next you will start saying it is my opinion, of course it is, but there is no doubting the px80 looks better with freeview and sky. I have seen it, and so have others, including friends who I asked when they were looking at the sets.
