Hi All.

I have one of the below TV brackets fixed to a solid brick wall which used to be home to my samsung 32 lcd tv.

On Saturday i went out and bought a new 42" LCd tv and am wondering if there is any reason why i cant use the same bracket.

the bracket itself is rate upto 40" and 68kg in weight.

the new 42" tv i bought has the same vesa mounting holes as my old TV and also only weighs 15kg ( same as my old samsung )

just to be sure i went to my local electrical superstore and checked all the 40 inch tv's in the range and they also have the same whole fittings on the back of the tv so is there any reason why i cant use the above bracket?

Can't see why not, weight is the most important issue.

If bracket is still solid to the wall I'd say go ahead.

Just check it after a couple of days, then a couple of weeks to make sure it's still secure, if not then replace.

It is the strength of the bracket arms that connect to the TV that tend to limit the loading.

There is generally a bit of a safety margin in the quoted loadings anyway so should be fine but as long as it's good quality and fitted with the right length bolts I don't see a problem.

Thanks Guys.

Did check the recommended bolts and they are the same again as the old TV. and seeing as the weight is also the same i think ill use it.

( to be honest i already tried it and it seems fine, no noticable bend in the arms or case. )

most brackets are overkill for the stated weight so you should be fine.now the legals. advice is made subject to terms and conditions and no responsibility is accepted for any damage whatsoever.
