Guys,

am currently looking to purchase a brand spanking new tv.
it will be mainly used for freeview and in the not so distant future xbox360 and upscale dvd playing.
am drawn towards the 40 inch samsung that can be had for around £940 with various codes. is this the best option or could i get something of similar quality for a couple of hundred less but without the big brand name?

thanks

tom

Which series Samsung for that money? The new N series? Just curious because I want the 40 N series and thats a couple hundred less than I've seen it.

Samsung LE40R73BD is the model number, hope that helps! not greatly clued up on it all tbh!

Ah ok thats still a good price, cheapest i can find for that model is £1048 including home delivery.

Others here should be able to tell you better than I if a cheaper set gets near it. I've read good stuff about that screen on avforums especially with use on the 360.

I've got my eye on a 40" R series, what is the N series? Any major differences?

2hdmi sockets, USB socket on the side and Memory card slots. Adjustable backlight. Supposed to have 100htz too.

I can't find anything nommy that looks as good as that samsung your after for £940. Not in 40 inches , but there are some nice 37's. But it depends on whether you need the extra 3 inches.

well if i could get a nice 37 inch for 750ish i'd go for it instead - any recommendations? might stretch to 830 for a 37 inch
