Any recommendations? Also what about the sizes - 27, 32, 37 or 42 inches? 1080 or 768? What's the sweet spot?

In order to benefit from HD gaming with Xbox 360 or PS3, what is the minimum TV size?

Because I have recently visited a friend's to see his TV/PS3 combination, I realised it is better to have a bigger tv to benefit from HD gaming.

Sorry if it's a repost because if I searched in this forum for TV, it would be anything unrelated as TV is part of gaming!

All comes down to budget.

720p on a 32" set is more than adequate if money is a factor. If not and you want a tv upwards of 37" then I'd say it's pretty much essential you go for a 1080p set.

Ok, haven't thought of room size. It is 12 x 19 foot room with 21" CRT TV! :D Budget is pretty tight as I would have to buy console + TV.

I'm not sure if it's true that all games on 360 and PS3 run at 720p so 1080 TV wouldn't be necessary then?

Sorry to barge in on your thread but! Room is 10ft in the sofa to where the tv would be direction.
Would a 40" TV be too large? I'm thinking no really. Hang on wall or use a stand?
Plasma or LCD?

Cheers!

I'd save up money for a screen that uses quality panel, and not a brand that uses B quality panels rejected, or older gen panels due to cost.

I reckon you could even get away with bigger.

I'm only 6-8 feet away from my 42" and it's fine for me.

Good to hear!

But Plasmah or LuhCuhDuh! or however the fonejacker spelt it ;)

Be a few weeks before I can pile the funds together to get a telly, and pay for a tv license... ;)

Is this due to the lower native resolution or the screen burn?

I know I 'could' continue gaming on my 24" monitor, but I'd love to play pgr4 on a huge monitor!
