LED is LCD. The LED part is just the backlight - it will still use an LCD panel.
LED is a newer backlight technology, CCFL is what is more traditionally used. There isn't much of an image quality benefit with current edge-lit LED backlight technology - the main benefit is that they are more "green" since they use less power to generate the same brightness.
To be honest I wouldn't suggest picking a monitor whether it is LED backlit or not, go for one that is a good all-round monitor.
Out of interest, what is your monitor budget and what do you plan to use it for mainly?
thnx for your reply.
i'm getting P2450 LCD for around $220 where LED with cost around $ 310 (forgot to get LED model and shop is now close)
mainly use will be gaming and movies.
honestly, i got P2450 and its with me but if you think LED is better than LCD then i can replace it without any charges. (only need to pay extra price for LED)
Aye, it is a different panel technology, the P2450 uses a TN panel.
This article explains the differences in the technology quite well.
This monitor is a good example of an IPS screen, this one uses an E-IPS panel that is rather good for gaming (as well as many other things). Here is an in-depth review.

Is this your experience or what you think the difference is?
As for higher brightness, it can be true but higher maximum brightness is not really a feature. Most modern monitors can hit 300cd/m^2 or more, however you would be mad to run them at this brightness all the time or your eyes will bleed. Instead, you run them at a fraction of this 100-200 cd/m^2.
Yes, they do indeed use less power. So expect a monitor with an LED backlight to use less power (=money) and be cooler in operation.
Clear blacks? Well not really in my experience, the dynamic contrast ratios are a bit of a joke - so this is usually just as good as CCFL versions in terms of black level since monitors use EDge-lit LED backlights not the more advanced "Full Array" LED backlights seen in some upcoming TVs.
I'm still using a Acer 19" monitor i got back last year when I got my new rig. I paid £139 for it, but now that i look at the selection offered now, i got scammed. i could have got a 22" and really used my 4850. Well, i won't make that mistake twice.
LED is LCD. Its just a different type of backlight. The current version of LED backlights (edge-lit) does not make the picture look any better, it just saves power and allows the monitor to be thinner.
