Is le creuset pot and pan set worth the money? I am looking for a decent set of pots, pans, woke etc which will last a long time in my kitchen. I saw le creuset set at John Lewis today and they felt very wel built. Anyone had any experience cooking with these?

They are really good. Had a cast iron wok and pot for years and years...still as good as new.

Awesome pans, really hard wearing and spread heat amazingly. I have the wok and griddle pan as well as a casserole dish and they're fantastic. I especially like the fact that you don't really have to turn the heat past medium once the pan is hot because it's so even. The only issue is that they're not non-stick, so care does have to be taken.

I use one of their 25cm cast iron casserole dishes and it's been great. As stated they are expensive but are worth it and will last you the rest of your life!

The Guardian website has offers for their stuff at the moment, don't know how it compares to elsewhere though.

They are good but also a total rip. That said we have about ten Le Creuset items in our kitchen :o. Their heat retention is of course excellent and they are very hard-wearing.

PS - it's pronounced Crer-say NOT Cruise-ay for all you muppets that say it like that :p.

They are really good, make sure that you season them properly though.
Also, you can't (or really shouldn't) cook tomato based food in them as it breaks down the seasoning of them pan.

Or "those fancy French pans", as I know them.

I was just washing our large lasagne pan that we've had for 23 years and it still looks as good as the day we bought it.

A few points:

Don't drop it on a tiled floor as it could crack the tile
The pans are heavy to start with and so are obviously heavier when full so take care moving pans off the stove
If you live near an outlet centre, see if there is a le Creuset store there as the pans can be 30% off

Look no further than the Anolon Professional range pans if you are serious about cooking, you won't find anything better for the money.

cast iron stuff is worth it, but if you're not obsessed with getting le creuset then the cast iron Chasseur stuff is just as good although not as pleasing on the eye. There's tons of less pricey cast iron stuff available though.

I personally don't rate the Le Creuset stoneware stuff, it doesn't last any longer than supermarket own brand stuff and costs a heck of a lot more.

I'd say they are worth it, once you've bought them, they'll pretty much last forever. :)
Only used my parents stuff, as I am too poor and run generic "unknown name" cast iron stuff in the kitchen. :(

This man speaks the truth which is why you see them on every professional cooking show there is. Le creuset sets are for style over substance. They dont get close to heating as evenly as Anolons.

got a load of the stuff for engagement and wedding presents. Then bought more with gift vouchers we got for the wedding. We both use it all the time, the griddle pan is excellent as it won't cool down when you put a big lump of meat on it because it's cast iron.

Also love all the stoneware bits. It's all expensive but we and both sets of parents love theirs.
