Just a heads up that Le Mans 24 hours is this weekend. Qualifying is on as we speak and Eurosport are covering everything apparently.

Radio Le Mans are broadcasting everything online: http://www.radiolemans.com/

Been listening at work all week

Oh, I thought you had to pay for coverage. Is it free then?

Gutted I'm not going this year, but it is out of choice rather than circumstance. I'm going to go next year once the new regulations have settled in.

Missed the first few hours. Good to see you lot are watching and have posted up the highlights.

Sorry folks, I disagree about McNish. That's not the way you drive at Le Mans. To win the race, first you've got to finish the race. That was really foolish driving.

Lemans isn't the sort of race where you try to sneak past a team mate when you see a gap appearing next to a slower car. Passing on the Dunlop esses is also a massive risk because it's a tricky set of curves. When it's congested like that, it's race suicide. I would say (purely from years of going to Le Mans) that Audi aren't very happy with McNish, especially when Peugeot are out to get them even harder than ever.

Amazing to see McNish just walk out of that one. For some reason I didn't know he was team mating with Tom Kristensen. Audi are DEFINITELY not going to be happy :D

I have beer. I have RLM and it's going to be a long night. Anyone else on for the long haul tonight?

Bad, bad news for Audi.

Wondering if their new design is causing this. There's always contact between cars because of the different classes, kinda inevitable, but something seems to be making the Audis completely flip out on what would normally be a fairly routine shunt.

There is nothing routine about being pit moved at 200mph into the wall. Audi's have been unlucky with the two accidents today and it's not going to be because of the design. What we can take from their design though is how amazingly strong the cars are.
There is. You've got multiple classes running at hugely different speeds and they clip each other all the time on the faster bits of the circuit.

What seems to be clear from the videos is those two Ferraris failed to see the faster cars on both occasions. First one was McNish being too risky on an overtake, but that second Ferrari definitely did not see Rockenfeller coming through. I'd say the Audi's lights don't look as bright as usual (though the video might have something to do with that) but you'd see him flashing away. Wonder if the Ferraris have too much of an obscured rear view?

Just going on what you can normally see on the darker parts of the circuit, their lights don't seem to have much range on them.

They've been showing it since the start.
When it came on after the McNish crash I thought it could have been tricky if things had been different.
Complacency maybe? They used to be such a strong team with such (I hate to coin a phrase) Germanic efficiency. In previous years the Peugeots have been faster cars but they haven't had the steady-headed team control and bulletproof reliability that Audi have had.

I've brought another bike up to the flat to play with. I quite like crashing around in the garage in the pitch black at midnight with a torch :D

Like I said, at Le Mans it's not the responsibility of the slower cars to get out the way of the faster cars. Sure they hang over to one side on Mulsanne, but they can still pass other cars in the same class and it's just too bad for the faster cars if they can't get through.

One of the Pescarolos is out. These are the guys who can take on Audi with 1/10 of their budget :(

Still here. Struggling with some bar wrap on my bike - mainly due to this last beer being 7.5% - but getting there.

SO close. 20 seconds between the lead cars after 12 hours is amazing. What a race so far.

Shame there's such a difference between the diesel and petrols now, they're effectively a separate class.

Lets hope the Ferraris hold out in GT. The Vettes are bulletproof and the Ferraris have been down in numbers for a number of years because they never finish. If they can stick it to the end they might give Corvette a bit of a race! :)

Lots of safety car action. They're stuffing them properly this year.

God that Vette leaving the pits sounds evil.
