I'd read a guide or two on characters that you might like to play as well, I read a few of Mobafire but I assume there are loads around.
 
ive ended up buying master yi and ashe so far, master yi seems a bit to advanced unfortunately. but i didnt know they rotated every week, thats a nice thing to look out for and try some new ones, cheers
 
Is anyone else having problems with routing or lag. My friend is constantly getting 150ping on LoL servers etc but he pings fine to everything else such as TS and cod4 servers etc.

He has rang ISP and they said it wasnt their end.

Bear, Teemo, Riven, most APs and a few others counter you straight off the top of my head. He is pretty strong though given how crazy he gets mid-late game.

Teemo and Bear to counter very hard. Rivan you can take down for a few early kills but once she gets items abit of a pain but by then team fights start up.

I generally just try and farm up top for 15-18mins, get the odd kill if I see the chance. Normally getting the tower by 10-12mins. Late game is where the fun starts with Tyrnd once you get Phantom and IE :D

Oh, I'm yet to try and bear, going to play abit next week if he's free and might see if he suits my style :)

My cousin fell into this trap, he played a couple of months solid on AI and now he can't go back to normals and when he does duo with me on the rare ocassion, well...he's just awful :o
 
Just an understanding how the game works, how different champions affect you, different ways you can be ganked, map control, map vision - really the works. Why we can have a team and absolutely smash another and then play another better team and find the same. The AI is below the worst human team - regardless of what Riot would have you believe
 
And because no-one actually answered Semiskimmed's original question :p: you get a lot more IP for doing PVP matches (maybe not so much at a low level, but certainly once you're higher).

I'm really enjoying ashe actually, i'll give poppy a go later and might give master yi another go too. It just felt a bit weak when i first tried him last night :)
 
For those playing the AI, get yourself in some custom ARAM games (all random, all mid) for a hectic 5on5 all mid lane no jungle fun! Games last normally about 15-20mins max and are pretty non stop fun :D
 
Summoner's Rift is the only 5v5 map for the normal mode. There's another game mode called Dominion, which uses a different map and is a bit like King of the Hill. There's also a 3v3 map for normal mode called Twisted Treeline. Summoner's Rift is the only map you can play in AI games.
