I've not seen it in here yet, but hell, I might well have missed something.

Anyone seen this yet?

www.leapmotion.com

For those not wanting to click link, it's like a XBOX Kinect thing, smaller and more accurate apparently, cheap, and works with loads of OS's etc.

I've preordered on the small chance it comes off!

Looks mint.

I don't think I could ever replace the keyboard with this, but it would be sweet for using in my lounge with the big TV and mac mini :P

Custom hand shuffle gesture programmed to open chrome in incognito mode, red tube starts... :P haha

prototype/concept marketing page,

let me get this right, this thing has been in R&D and not one of us on this forum came across a story on it, just wham bam from no where?

they invent this thing, but cant get a web site togther that can handle 20 hits? (currently cant get to any other page than the home page)

i'll hold onto my coins until i see a review from someone i trust lol

but in saying that, in concept this looks great

I do, I like the touch interface on the iPad, I just don't like having to wipe the screen all the time.

I have a tablet and I prefer the accuracy of a mouse.
That's the problem with these interfaces, they are slower and less accurate than a mouse.
Might be useful for televisions though where you really don't want a remote of any kind.

Mostly useless as your hand has to be directly above the device.

So that rules out home theatre systems, where this type of input might actually be of some use.

This will be absolutely massive in the same way smartphones have skyrocketed over the last 5 years.

This is a device that simply plugs in via USB, the makers have created SDK packages so other application devs can utilise it in their apps.

Imagine boardroom meetings, the presenter whips out their smartphone, plugs in the Leap device via USB (Android supports USB HOST connectivity), places both devices on the table and the phone is already connected wirelessly to the projector or smartboard. The presenter does the presentation using Minority Report like actions and movements.

Audience goes away /minds.blown/

The blurb says it has a 4 square foot radius and can track all 10 fingers in that space so anyone who works on their computer at a workstation will be able to benefit from music creation to video and photo editing and even puzzle gaming/driving.

The uses are virtually limitless around the home and workplace.

It's nice technology but I don't see it as being particularly useful.

Surely this is awesome for media PC's in the living room who want to do away with keyboard and mouse? Imagine being able to point and click with your finger from the comfort of your leather upholstered recliner :p

Leap motion + Windows 8 = win?

Yeah that's what I think it will be most used with, anyone know the operating distance?
