Setting it up now !!!!!!!!!! :D

Googles Leap motion* - Now I see why your so excited :D lol, after you've been using it for a bit you should post on how/what you use it on the most.

I nearly pre-ordered one, but I've been bitten too many times by things like the TrackIR to be impatient. I'm looking forward to finding out how it performs in the real world though.

So far I have found the maps app incredible, you just fly over the map and kind of glide your hand where u wanna go, and the 3d scientific 'skull exploration' app is also brilliant.........for studying 3d models I think its brilliant, maybe someone who works with 3D models would love it.

I have found it **** so far, well im having trouble using .......gesture interface on windows 8 even though its a touch enabled OS. And the painter app is also very difficult.........

In conclusion, and probs a reflection of a human mind in 3D space, I find 3d apps with depth incredibly easy to use, easier than a mouse, however 2D environments its frustratingly difficult.

EDIT: Do u want me to make a video of me using the device?

Not going to force you but if you want to make a video of some of your uses I'd prob. give it a watch :P, honestly not heard of the product before.

Be interested to see how this worked on a htpc running xbmc and using this to control it.

They're talking about having wireless units in the near future, but the current ones are wired USB, so without an active USB repeater (or unless you sit 2m or nearer to your TV), they're pretty useless as HTPC controllers regardless of software / user acceptance.

mine has arrived, and to be honest, it's rubbish
most of the apps for it are not very responsive, a few are ok, but for the most part they aren't up to much, and the touch for windows app would probably be just about ok in win8, but in win7 it is also rubbish

mine is going back

Hi, can I just resurrect this thread just in case Leap Motions are on sale this Xmas or January?

Have Win 8.1 now so was interested in people who have tried it with that interface...

Cheers!

Thanks Rilot & Stas823 for replying. Damn, I remember when this was going to be the next big thing. Hope Oculus Rift doesn't cause the same disappointment!

BTW In case anyone still wants to try it out, I just noticed that Amazon.co.uk have it in their 'Lightning Sale' 10am Monday 2.12.13, be interested to see how they price it...

Just an F.Y.I. This was £44.99 on Amazon.co.uk today, wonder if it's worth it at that price (as opposed to retail £69.99)?

Hoping Post-Xmas sales will have it lower too...

At some point it'll be cheap enough to warrant an impulse 'gadget' buy :D
