I've plans to start learning the Spanish Language in January, and I'm bascially wondering if their is any fellow OC'ers who have learned this and as to what their views are while doing this?

Reasons why I'm learning;
Within the top 4 of the most spoken language in the world.
I live in a community of many Spanish speakers.
I have family of whom live in Spain.
Similar vocabulary to Italian and French.

I plan on moving to Los Angeles at some point within the next 6 years, so in this defence the following point of learning would be VERY handy;
41.7% of Los Angeles speak Spanish (recorded in 2000).

I'll be the first (probably of many) to tell you to try the Michel Thomas method CDs - they're fantastic, I've not learnt spanish but I used the German and French ones and they're just great - you can get free 20min samples from audible.com

I learn it at basic level for a uni module, crap at it though but i didnt really attend v much or do much work, its not actually that difficult really though.
use the search for a few threads on what people say about it, some good resources etc

Managed to get some of his stuff, I'll have a listen through it, but I won't be taking it serious yet, not untill I start my course in January. Cheers guys!
