Learning Texas Hold'em

I used to use Victor chandler but havent played for about 18 months. Went to play tonight and they have changed the format from last man standing takes the pot to 10 places and people can keep joining.

Anyone got any decent poker site recommendations where I can still play 10 player knockout?

As someone else said, 2+2 forums are brilliant but probably a bit overwhelming for someone who doesn't really know how to play.

To get the basics down, I would suggest a google search for poker strategy which should tell you some really basic stuff that you should know before playing for money. Then go into the super-low stakes at any site, I use PokerStars myself which has stakes going all the way down to $0.01/$0.02 for NL then once you think you have the basics sorted, check out places like 2+2. That was how I learned anyway. I wouldn't reccommend play money tables because nobody takes it seriously and you will learn bad habits that will get you owned at any real money table.

And ignore whoever told you to watch televised poker events. Its like teaching yourself how to drive by watching a Formula One race. They are pros and you are a beginner so they can pull off tricks that you can't.

10 player knockout = Sit & Go / Single Table Tournament (STT)
The other thing you described = Cash game / Ring game

Any poker site that isn't awful will offer both. PokerStars does those and far more and is always very busy as it is so big.

Hey,

I've just watched Casino Royale and I'm in the mood to learn poker again. I played it when I was on holiday in Oz but I cannot remember the website my cousin showed me to learn how to play.

It was a flash game, went through the rules, cards, etc and then you played some practise games.

Does anyone know the site or any other good flash/picture based resources?

Thanks.

PokerTH (PC game) would be fairly good to start out on.

http://www.pokerth.net/

I think there's instructions there (never looked as my brother taught me) & also during the game, on the left, it tells you the hands you can get which is one of the main things you need to know in poker.

Craig.

pokerroom i have found to be the best, but im up for trying anything, should see if we can get a phew guys together on poker room have a bit of a laugh :) on a friday night or something. dont think were aloud to talk about real money poker in here are we ?

if there are some guys that are up for some poker banter, i can redirect us to some where we can legally talk about it.

Im unhappy with my current poker site, thinking of signing up to Pokerstars, what offers are there around atm (hope this is allowed)?

pokerroom.com is a good one, been there for about 7 years now. its the only one i find good and professional.

And tbh i dont know the rules about talking about stuff like these ill go have a read ;)

played a live tournament last night

after flop ( Kh, 2h, 4s ) there was 12k in pot ( huge blinds and a couple of limpers at this point ) and UTG goes all in for his last 3.5k

I call ( last to act , others folded ) with Ah,6h

he shows 3c, 3d which holds up

he promptly them goes off on one at what a **** I am for making the call

Took him out a few hands later though and went on to win the tourney ( v small stakes )

I am all for folks learning the game but don't shoot your mouth off until you know what you are talking about

I tried to explain that I easily had pot odds without worrying about pairing the Ace or 6 but he wasn't having it

and I never got round to asking him why he goes all in with a underpair from UTG when a call is only 20% of pot and there are 3 to act

Been around a year since I played poker for any decent level , but players like that should be encouraged , there welcome at my table any day of the week ;)

As for latest bonus etc www.bonusw****s.com or the work friendly bonuschasers.com I believe.
