I'm back baby!
Current car:

PASSAT DIESEL ESTATE 2.0 Highline Plus TDI CR DPF 5dr DSG

I'm looking to spend less on tax than the Dub if possible, and stay below the 120kg CO2/km. Needs to be a good size as I've got kids, and a decent sized engine for the mileage I'm set to do over the lifetime of the car (all motorways).

There are thousands of options and pricing them all up and checking their BIK cost is next to impossible! Does anyone have any specific suggestions/experiences to share?

I also get more cash to me in my pay packet the less I spend, so if anyone can give me a 5 series BM that meets all the requirements and costs me less, go for it!

Ta :)

Ah, almost forgot to mention, the manufacturers available to me:

Audi
BMW
Ford
Lexus
Mazda
Mercedes
Renault
Seat
Skoda
Toyota
Vauxhall
Volkswagen
Volvo

520d will fit these requirements in certain combinations (ie not an M Sport on 19's). Make sure you order an auto because the manual box and 2 litre engine ruins the car.

IMHO there is no better sub 120g/km CO2 car on the market today (Well, ignoring the nutcase stuff like the Porsche 918 or whatever).

Guy at work just got a Merc E Class Bluetec Hybrid. He had a 5 series previously and this is costing significantly less than both the previous model he had and the equivalent new model 5 series.

ActiveHybrid only comes with the 3 litre petrol turbo.

The rest are trim levels, Luxury has standard fit pro nav but even an SE has business navigation, xenons, leather etc as standard.

I'm getting a bit of a semi on. What's the colour on page 36? Looks like an electric blue?

Its the VAG/MERC/BMW's that seem to be able to give a low CO2 figure for pretty respectable engines. Do you have to pay a contribution or is it just BIK you have to pay?

It hard to look beyond the F10.

All depends on the list price of the car, but I need to get quotes from the lease company. They don't make it very easy.

He asked for suggestions so I gave a couple. Not every person in the world is obsessed with BMW and enamoured by the 5.

Nothing to do with being obsessed, just genuinely confused what makes the S60 a credible rival? The GS could be, I agree.

Gilly does seem enamoured by the 5 from his opening post, so it would follow we need something better if we are looking for alternatives.

Sorry, doesn't have to be a 5 or better, I need to be pragmatic.

It needs to be at least equivalent but preferably better than the VW that's all. If I need to pay another £200 a month to get a 5 series then it's not really doable. Happy with a 3 series or similar if that's the best deal. Need to get some priced up.

I would love the 5 of course :)

320D Touring/Saloon if the 5-series is too expensive?

A lot of the dealerships in the North are doing some nice offers on 3-series if the deal is sealed by 31st.

GS450h?

Silly quick, congestion charge exempt, silly low c02 rating, super reliable and comfortable?
