I use my Pause|Break a few times with the old windows button

, but i'd go for ESC.

Me too. I've no idea what a few of them are for. What's Sys Rq for example.

| ? If that's the symbol I think you mean, it's used to redirect standard output to standard input under linux. As such it's used extensively in cobbling together shell scripts.
