LED Interior Lights

I bought some cheap LED striplights for the back of my van.

The lights run on either 3x or 6x AA batteries.

I was considering wiring these two additional led striplights off of the existing interior light in the back of the van.

Anything to consider with regards to this?

They're meant for 9V.

Need to measure the current they draw, or make a crude PSU.

thinking of doing this to my cars Interior Lights also
the dash and centre console lighting is LEDs as standard, so don't need to replace them
and the car has a bulb warning system for the exterior lights so its not a simple replacement as the LED`s set the warning off
because they use less voltage.

Remember LED bulbs don't blow like tungsten ones do... I've not come across LED brake lights before tho, how powerful are they as they need to match a 20W tungsten bulb which is no mean feat...

Yeah, it was me with my old RX8.
I don't have any pics any more I'm afraid. I did it kinda as a laugh. It looked really tacky TBH with the bloooooo ones I used.

It's a pretty simple task these days, LED technology has progressed hugely in the last few years. LED's also have the advantage of producing the correct coloured light without filtering, which gives them a further boost in efficiency compared to tungsten lamps.

I've got an LED festoon bulb in mine. Looks good.

No, it looks bloody awful as it always does when people try and transplant modern features into 15 year old cars. Keep your car period and mint, and it'll look good. A 94 Rover 400 with LED brakelights, LED this, HID that, just looks cack.

Keep it period, keep it nice.

I understand what you mean, but replacing normal yellowy filament bulbs for LED ones which give off a nice clean white light does look good (IMO obviously). I'm not about to fit white LED neons or blue LED sidelight bulbs, but the rear LED brake lights do look smart.

To be honest, the difference is negligible apart from the instant on/off. Not really noticeable unless you're looking for it.

Oh, I do agree with you on having HIDs/xenons on an older car. It doesn't look right.

Aren't LED brake/tail lights supposed to be a little bit dimmer than halogen bulbs, albeit faster on/off?

I have never liked one aftermarket light or kit or bulb more than I have liked the decent OEM stuff. (Ignoring super bright full beam bulbs)

I know some aftermarket HID kits are good but OEM are still always better, as for aftermarket lights... oh dear.
