LED Lighting

I'm not much of an electrician, but I want to have something like:

These LED Lights

But I want to put them on a shelf above my PC to light the area, the shelf is between 50cm and 1m away from tower.

So, two questions;
1. How would I extend the wire connecting them to the molex?
2. Could I put an in-line switch to control them?

Also, are there any alternatives you would suggest? I have no soldering equipment or knowledge.
Basically looking for something fancy looking, doesn't have to be functional, just a bit of light for the area to make it look nice

Antec do a LED strip light that you can stick to the back of the monitor. Looks good and is powered from a USB port. Would link you but im on my phone. OcUK sell them.

I would look at getting some main powered flexible strips in case you might decide you want them on, when your PC is off.
