How do

Bit of an odd question..
On LED lit fans, the fan takes 12V through the molex, then passes it on to the LEDs..

Does it pass on the full 12V, or does it cut it down to, say, five or something?

I want to 7V my fans, but keep the LEDs on a seperate line so they don't dim

There has to be a resistor to limit the current through a LED (some have it built in). I don't think going from 12v to 7v will make a large difference, they don't work like bulbs.

If there is a resistor in the led circuit, and they go a bit dim, you could replace the resistor to suit the voltage.
