led zeppelin

I'd love to go back and experience the first time I discovered Zeppelin.
I'd have to say that my favourite song is Ramble On as well. For me its the perfect balance of acoustic and sheering electric guitar, and I guess as Jimmy describes it in the film It Might Get Loud, its the night and day comparison. Add in the lyrics, groovy bass line and Plant's singing and its just perfection.

This is a great cover by the Foos with Page and Jonesy.

Over 8/9 albums it's impossible to pick a favourite from a band who didn't really record and release anything that was a dud.
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You - I
Since I've been Loving You - III
When the Levee Breaks - IV
No Quarter - The Song Remains the Same (Live album)
The Rover and Ten Years Gone - Physical Grafitti
Achilles Last Stand - Presence

Led Zeppelin III was a new release when I bought it as my second ever album (first was Deep Purple In Rock).
Favourites come and go but Dazed and Confused, Since I've Been Loving You and Achilles Last Stand are always there or thereabouts.

Ohhhhh I'm going to say it! I honestly don't get the fuss. They're alright. Stairway to heaven is the best song they've done imo.
Do you play an instrument?
I was never much into them until my drum teacher sat me down and took me on a tour through what the players were actually doing on certain tracks (including Stairway)... and that's the point where I found serious respect for them.

Same here.

Favourite guitar solo gives me the goosebumps to this day.
Up there with Steve ray Vaughn playing Voodoo Child for goosebumps!

If someone is daft enough to ask “what’s the best rock band ever” then most sensible people would typically say something along the lines of “there is no single best band” and go on to mention the usual suspects like The Beatles, Pink Floyd etc.

But actually, I think the answer is quite easy. It’s Led Zeppelin :D

Nothing comes close to the musicianship, the loudness, the heaviness, the attitude etc. It must have been mind blowing to hear them for the first time back then.

Yeah this. I play the drums (well, used to) and it’s pretty easy to play along with most “popular rock” that you hear day to day. But play along with some of Bonham’s stuff.. like “Good Times, Bad Times”. Yeah good luck.

Zep III was also the latest album when I first heard them in 1971 and two weeks later I saw them at Trentham Gardens as a 13 year old.
Saw them twice at Earls Court and then Knebworth.
Favourite song is Bron-Y-Aur Stomp which was the very first song I heard by them.
They are still my Desert Island band if I can only take one but I wouldn't take Presence, I hate that album.

I don't like the Presence album but love the Achilles Last Stand track, when Bonham plays those fills it's like the hammer of the gods

I hate Plant's wailing in it - "ah ah ah ah" so a couple of decades ago I put the track in Soundforge and made my own version without all that in :)
The funny thing is Page is my all time favourite guitarist and Presence his known as his album, because of In Through The Outdoor they let him have carte blanche on Presence but it doesn't work for me except Nobody's Fault But Mine.
When the album came out in 1976 I was that upset with it I broke the vinyl in half and threw it in the bin, it was in the 90s when I saw it cheap on CD so I put it in my collection again and gave it another go but still didn't get me.
More recently because of a proper DAP and expensive in-ears I gave it another go but still no joy.
