Lee Filters

I got it !

I don't know why, I expected the filter to be made of glass, even though i know it is a resin.

But £200 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111 (made me sick a little)

It's an awesome scam one I wish I came up with :D

Mark up on some of it must be huge. Going for the same except with a big stopper and maybe a 4 stop ND as well. Not interested in gradient filters, of course I see their benefit but for what I need it's so easy to get in post.

There's a video somewhere (Youtube?) of the Lee factory - it's all very much a manual process, hence the big backlogs at times for Big Stoppers.

Ordered....£199.80 on filters.

Ouch.

See that does seem like an awful lot.

For me, would that money be better invested put towards a new lens, I just don't know.

I can't see myself doing any serious photography from a while now so I'm going to bookmark this thread and revisit it when I'm next about to go away :)

Lol, trust me, I still think about that even after I paid for it! And technically it is filter instead of filters as I only got 1....

Thing is that the effect from the filter is difficult to replicate fully through any other means. You can get cheaper ones but they are worthless when selling second hand, these hold the value better too.

Easyrider offered me his d-15m for £850. I'm not sure on it, the sound are fuller, not as bright as a Taylor, a characteristic that I prefer.

Plus I like the look of the glossy finish too.

This is why I try to buy the more well known things. If I ever, for whatever reason decide to sell up, the Lee filters, L lenses, FF body, etc will all command higher resale value.

The D15M for £850 is a VERY good price. The non M (like mine) WAS £850 before the VAT change, when I decided to buy it, it cost me £1000. The M series used to cost £1000, but is now a higher price. I'd definitely get it, although it's a very specific sound. More of a warm sound throughout while Taylor has a brighter mid range.

I know it's a good deal, it's just my heart tells me I prefer the brighter tone from a Taylor. What good is a good guitar if I prefer the sound from another? Even if the 214's back and side are laminate...puke. Lol

A mint Taylor 314ce just went for eBay for £890. I would've liked that.

I just ordered a Big Stopper :D

Haven't yet got a holder, am I correct in thinking that the Cokin Z will also hold these?

Have a look at the Martin D15. I have one, it's very nice. There was recently a side by side on the Acoustic Letter site.

{edit} I tell a lie, it was the Taylor 320

Watched the link, still prefer the Taylor, sorry ! The Martin just sounds more dull to me :p

And to get this thread back on track, WOO LEE FILTERS! WOO! :D

Lets !

It is a quality product, the fittings are very accurate, the filter does not and will not fall off.

Note to self, when filter on lens, only turn it 1 direction (clockwise) otherwise risk taking off the mount from the lens.
