What the hell is the idea with this. Maybe its a stupid question but I have heard this mentioned a lot just wondered wtf.

Does what it says on the tin. Handy on the track for short corners where you don't need to change down a gear. Not much use on the road, really. Well, except for getting rid of tailgaters.

*Dons asabestos suit*

The idea is that you can go faster as your right foot does not have to go from the accelerator to the brake, rally drivers do it all the time.

Try a kart and you know what is good about it.

Your left foot is used to the clutch and so you press very hard lol.

Its only really needed to keep on the power without accelerating, handy for a laggy turbo track car as it keeps it on boost. Pretty pointless to 99% of drivers and not even worth bothering with on the road /with most cars

because he doesn't want to end up planting his left foot and having somebody stack it in to the back of him?

I find left foot braking really easy, maybe you're all uncoordinated? :p

I find it easy too, keeping the car in control and seeing it as useful is another matter though :p

I find it balances my car nicely over speed bumps, combined with the throttle going over the peak of the bump. I miss the country roads being in London!

My friend showed me a cool trick involving left foot braking and bridges. Just as the car is about to take off you tap the brake and it keeps it firmly on the ground - neat trick :D
