I was surprise to my own eyes  when I logged in my sky account and saw a pop up screen saying 'Left Sky TV in the last 12 months?' with amazing 75% off and a credit of £100 as well. All full bundles with sports and movies in HD with no contract.

Does anyone have this similiar?

I had a 60% + £100 offer but didn't get that one

tbh these sort of things are a right kick in the **** to long term customers

Yeah we just got that offer too. Glad we do the annual shuffle each year between me and my gf.

Sky does not look after loyal customers at all.

Damn that's amazing. 75% off for 12 months with 5 months free anyway with the credit. That's great.

As Rotty says though, what a kick in the teeth for me as loyal customer. I might try calling their bluff with it. Tell them I want to cancel and take my chances with that offer. You never know.

Netflix are relying less and less on movies to sell their service, with all that original content they are pumping out.

Were movies ever really a selling point for Netflix?

It's fantastic. They are a company churning out A rated content en masse at the minute for pennies whereas Sky by comparison are using 350 channels of advert laden old movies and tv shows as its selling point and its slowing subscriber growth, stagnant profit margins and rapid price increases reflect that.

I've been with sky for years and have everything except sport. But in the past year I've watched hardly anything on it and tend to use Netflix and Amazon instead. I'm probably going to cancel soon as it's just a waste of money.

To start with, yeah. Then they no longer renewed their contract with a lot of the studios.

The main reason I keep sky is a) habit and b) I'm on the old package that gives me F1 for having the HD pack (extra £10 / mnth) without needing sky sports

I don't have Netflix or Amazon, but somehow still manage to see their shows

I'm tempted to do this as it's currently in my GF's name, but dont you need a new viewing card/box and lose all recordings on the current box? That would be a masive pain as we have loads we havent watched and film/stuff for the kids.

Yeah you lose all your recordings. Generally have a month cross over and binge watch all the recordings.

Worth it though as each year we do the switch tend to get a cheaper deal, bigger cash back and freebies from sky plus we sell the old box for £50/60.

Usually ends up costing only a few quid each month.

The only thing I have Sky for is football and F1. I would cancel it in a heartbeat otherwise. I am considering using NowTV day passes but the only thing then is when you are streaming live sport then you end up a minute or two behind, which is a pain if you're in WhatsApp groups with other friends watching, or if you want to use things like the live timing on the F1 website.

In exactly the same boat and have to confess I hardly even watch that anymore. Wow just logged in and noticed I'm now paying 44 quid a month (528 a year) for effectively the strife to watch the CI channel to develop 101 ways to murder your husband.

Oh dear.
