Anyone with solution as to why this happened?

What drivers are you using? theres a minor stability issue with 180.4x on certain hardware configurations that cause the nVidia driver to crash or become unresponsive in left 4 dead that can be solved (for deffinate) with the 180.60 CUDA beta drivers or possibly (unconfirmed) in 180.84. I've not tested the 181.00 beta version but they should be ok too.

well atm i have a 8500gt and that is running stock drivers. i mean i did install the 178.24 version (latest available for the 8500gt) but it knackered up and gave me a BS. i am waiting for xmas so i can get my 9800gt but until then im stuck with what i got...
