I hate Apple, so iTunes is out of the question. What quality do Amazon have there songs at?

I've got a 60mbit connection, 10mb is getting pretty standard. Lossless audio should be available in this day and age. Why are we still messing around with 192, 256k

The primary reason that Lossless isn't as popular is probably because of its larger filesize. Maybe when we have phones with 256GB of memory we can have Lossless coming into the mainstream :p

I believe Amazon has 320k audio but not lossless... but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Also 99.9% people wouldn't be able to tell a good lossy encode (AAC/Lame MP3) from lossless.

Still, I would definitely like to be able to buy lossless audio. Good music is worth the extra quality, even if you hear it with your current gear.

Yeah... Actually I've been meaning to see if I can tell the difference! Now that I actually have a decent pair of headphones I should give it a listen :D

I've used 7digital, Juno and Boomkat with great success. Why more people don't do lossless is totally beyond me, given that we're only talking about a 3-5x increase in file size over (say) 160kbit MP3s. Very odd

On the plus side, iTunes is rumoured to be moving towards ALAC across the board, which may well herald a change to lossless throughout. I've never understood why people are happy to pay more for MP3s than CDs :p

It is the music labels, they are stuck in the dark ages - they hold everything back.

It's weird in this day and age when the video entertainment industry is striving towards ever higher quality that the music industry seems to be moving in completely the opposite direction.

They are just selling what the majority of people want and saving themselves a massive bandwidth cost.

Still ish they would cater to the more demanding consumer would save me buying CD's and ripping them!
