Legality of shooting a welshman?

Recently was linked to a site that asks you questions and calculates how much jail time/fines you would get if you were punnished for every small offence.

Some of the laws it claims are rather humerous:

in Chester you can only shoot a welsh person with a bow and arrow inside the city walls and after midnight. In york, excluding sundays, it is perfectly legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow.

Does anyone know the origins of them?
Does anybody know of any other weird laws? :D

they are real laws that still exist, there are quite a lot of them, i think they are presumed O.O.D. and so therefore haven't been resolved, also other laws coming into existence making them redundant, also all boys over the age of ten should legally be receiving something like 10 hours longbow practice a week
 
I'd always heard (& hoped) that it's legal & required to shoot with a bow and arrow any Welshman who crosses the River Severn in to England after sunset. I've been sitting under this bridge for years now & have so far only managed to puncture about 4 tyres as they all hide in cars. Than God for WiFi access or I'd go mad :rolleyes:

I know, and that was my car tyres you had with your arrows as I was returning after going to see that cheap car supermarket place across the bridge !!!
 
In Texas, a recently passed anticrime law requires criminals to give their victims 24 hours notice, either orally or in writing, and to explain the nature of the crime to be committed.
 
Just a warning. Anybody who shoots at me with a bow and arrow better make sure they hit the target because if they shoot at me and miss they'll have a fist shaped dent put in their head. Not that I go to Chester that often, mind!

Yeah seen these before hehe but I did wonder

Say you did shoot a welshman with a bow inside the city walls, could you not use that to get out of being charged? Surely if its still a written law then you could use that in defence
 
It was an old common law offence but has since been overruled by newer law (ie the Homicide Act 1957). If only..

He he glad this has been posted, my sister used to live in Chester so I've always been tempted to bring a bow and arrow! Someone please post and say this is legal! :p
 
The welsh one is true, however you can't use it as the new murder laws superceed and do not include the shooting the welsh law. So no you can't legally kill em.

when I did a level law, my tutor told us abot the welsh in chester one, and said it used to be legal, because (if i can remember it right) that chester had a wall around it, and the gates were shut at night, so no welsh ppl should be in chester after this time, and so if you find one, you could shoot him with a bow and arrow.

Dont think you would get away with it now though :D :D

One law that has not been superseeded iirc is the one where it is illeagle to use lighting in your house after a certain time. i think its around 6pm. This is due to the bombings during WWII. (the blackout)

Correct me if im wrong.

I guess its racist, i mean, theres muslims and indians that'll be proclaiming for equal rights if it was still in action :p





P.S. I'm not racist, it was meant jokingly ;)
