Hi all,

I got Zelda earlier on with a component cable, and first thing I did was switch to component and change the settings to 480p and shove in Wii Sports.

And my god what a difference!

Can see the individual strings on tennis rackets, colours are much richer.

Certainly worth the £20 :)

But anyway,

I swapped Sports for Zelda and watched it load up and watched the full beginning video whilst grinning from ear to ear :D

The game looked lovely, the colours looked rich and full :D

and best of all, the framerate is solid, with no slow down at all so far which is excellent.

Now one thing I've noticed most about the Wii is that most of the games so far have all had a very natural lovely feel to it. Like very responsive etc.

And it's the same case with Zelda, the rag doll effects are good the face expressions are good, and everything just flows really well whilst still looking very good, considering the game was intended for the gamecube.

So far, I'm loving it and there isn't anything I don't like about it.

How are others finding it?

Fantastic, done 4 of the dungeons, they've all been great so far. With everything going on right now not had as much time to play, but that will change tomorrow :D

I really do want a Wii solely for Zelda :(. First things first I need a better TV though and as I'm learning to drive, all of my money is going on that :(.

Give my some sympathy people.

Loving it so far apart from the 3rd dungeon with the giant stairs and water flow, just bored the pants off me.

Best moment so far was the Horse chase and jousting like battle on the bridge.

Pick up a second hand Gamecube and get the GC version of Zelda. Save yourself a good few quid and still get pretty much the same experience.

Have to say, there is definately slowdown on the GC version, not sure if its different on the wii.

Just finished it, clocking in at 34 hours, so theres plenty to do.

A ten out of ten game? In most ways, absolutely, but its nowhere near as good as OoT, sorry. I found myself being really let down by the dungeons, which heavily borrowed ideas from other zelda games. The only dungeons that I thought were awesome was the first one, the water one and the desert one, but even that borrowed heavily from the forest temple from OoT. The other dungeons were either too short, too linear or too easy. Just comparing them to the genius of the OoT temples, they were pretty rubbish. The last two were a joke.

I think the 8.8 IGN score got it pretty spot on.

I'm playing the Gamecube version & it's great. Quite far in now. Let me give a little tip (not much of a spoiler). In previous Zelda games, when you repeatedly attacked a chicken with a sword, it would call a gang of chickens to attack you. In this game, it goes to a cut scene showing the chicken. You can then use the analogue stick to control the chicken for a short period of time & tap the 'A' button to make the chicken fly. You may find this ability to be of use at some point in Kakarico village !
I'm playing on a 14" crt TV, albeit one with surprisingly good colour & picture quality. Don't let lack of a fancy TV put you off the game.
I thought majora's mask & windwaker were more fun than Ocarina anyway, respect for it's ground-breaking but I think it's a wee bit over-rated. I prefer this new one.

I would but my main problem is the TV. It has the worst picture quality known to man, flickers a lot and generally just looks ****. I'd rather play it when I've got a nice big widescreen and I can fully appreciate the game :D.

As I've said in quite a few threads ;)
I'm really enjoying Zelda, but can't spare much time for it at the moment due to other things (Games Workshop models).

Off Topic, from the age of 10 - 14 it's quite scary how much money i spent in games workshop!

i never spent money on that because it was too expensive.

£20 for some little robot man, i spent it on games instead.

Last OT post by me in this thread - just be thankful there wasn't a Forgeworld a few years back (anything up to £1k for one of their models) ;)

I started playing my Zelda the other day and I must admit i'm loving it, I've been out of console gaming for about 6 years and tbh glad to be back. I played Ocarina of time I'm on the second dungon in twilight princess, is it me or is death montain and that village on the wrong side of the map? I'm sure in Ocarina of time it was North east of the map not west? That sand place was in the west no?

Anyway yes definately enjoying the game,

The Wii version of Zelda is "mirrored" compared to the GC version and previous Zelda's in order to make Link appear right-handed (in all previous versions he is a lefty) as it would have been awkward for right-handed people to use the shield in their right hand and sword in their left with the Wii control system.

I thought only Links handedness was mirrored, not the whole game world

Yeah same here, surely there was no need to change the entire land because of link being left handed?

I'm left handed and it doesn't make any differences if you are a lefty or a righty.

No matter what way you swing the sword it still defaults the same way it has done in all the other games.

It is the whole world, don't need to read the link above as I flicked through the offical guide last week (for the Wii version) and at the end it had 20 pages or so dedicated to the GC versions, with maps thats mirrored to the wii version.
