Surprised no one has started a thread...anyone else foaming at the mouth for this game?! Though I loved most the Zelda Games, Ocarina of Time remains my favourite!

We've been talking about it for around a year in the main Wii U thread.

It's going to be very special, super excited about it!

I can't wait to see what they do with the (large) open world element of the game, exciting times. The game looks fantastic - that grass and lighting especially!.

Epona automatically avoiding trees and objects while in auto-run is such a nice detail/feature, and it's nice to see that you can actually leap into the air off your horse and shoot an arrow, like was shown in the cut-scene trailer from E3.

Here's some quotes about the game from various sources that I found quite interesting:

In the traditional “The Legend of Zelda” series, the player would play one dungeon at a time. For example, if there are eight dungeons, at the fourth dungeon, some players may think, “I’m already halfway through the game,” while other players may think, “I still have half of the game to play.” We are trying to gradually break down such mechanism and develop a game style in which you can enjoy “The Legend of Zelda” freely in a vast world, whenever you find the time to do so.” - Miyamoto, IGN July 2014

“Since we’re talking about open worlds, let’s state upfront that we don’t plan to have an open world in the same way other companies have been doing in recent years. “ - Aonuma, EDGE Magazine Aug 2014

“The two-player functionality of Hyrule Warriors is actually something that has traditionally been done in the Dynasty Warriors series, but they’ve changed because of the hardware and the second screen on your GamePad. Instead of having a splitscreen on the television, you have one-player playing on the television and one on the GamePad. When I was talking back about making Zelda more than just a single-player experience? That’s something you will see in the future, maybe next year.” Aonuma, GameInformer June 2014

“As a player progresses through any game, they’re making choices. They’re making hopefully logical choices to progress them in the game. And when I hear ‘puzzle solving’ I think of like moving blocks so that a door opens or something like that. But I feel like making those logical choices and taking information that you received previously and making decisions based on that can also be a sort of puzzle-solving. So I wanna kinda rethink or maybe reconstruct the idea of puzzle-solving within the Zelda universe.” - Aonuma, Kotaku June 2014

I would bet on it being 30FPS as I think it's would be the better choice for this kind of game - freeing up resources for more world and object detail. Previous Zelda games have been 30FPS too.

It's hard to tell from the off screen footage, but it seems like they either have some form of anti-aliasing or the game is running 1080p - hard to call!.

I think 720p 60fps would be awesome experience for an open world game - EAD have the art skills in aplenty to deal with that resolution and Nintendo unlike a lot of devs are happy to keep pushing for that 60fps.

Starfox!!!!! WOW

Yeah! great to hear it coming along well and that we'll see it in 2015.

It was announced at E3 earlier this year:

I think I'd prefer 720p antialiased 60fps. Frame rate > res for me.

I'd prefer 1080p 30fps for an open world game like this. 60fps isn't really required in a Zelda game IMO.

Zavvi have Zelda with a 30 Jun pre order, optimistic perhaps? Zelda series is the reason why I always buy a Nintendo console!

I know, but given many lesser games get their own thread, it should have its own!

Yeah retailer placeholder date, they heard it's 2015 so they just set the date mid-year.

I was planning to make the thread myself but you beat me to it!.

I think merlin means that the reason there has been no thread, is because we've been discussing it in the Wii U thread, not because it doesn't deserve it's own thread :p. It's certainly worth having a thread now that we are getting more info about the game.

They say its like Skyrim, if thats so im getting it. but if its like the 3DS ocorina of time, ill stay well clear.

If there's even a sniff of a special edition, it's about the only game series I would buy it. I hope it's not too long before we see more details emerge about this game. A hint to the story would be much appreciated.
