As much as I like the star wars stuff, I dont find it that impressive as a feat of lego. After all its just specially made shapes and pieces, no more impressive than any other plastic model kit. I find it much more impressive when people use pieces to make non standard kits.

Thats clever.

Actually the lego star destroyer has NO new custom pieces [neither does the star destroyer]. Im quite impressed how the designers have managed to use the vast array or standard pieces to build up this thing.

Anyone who cant make up their mind....get the syat destroyer rather than the death star, its far more impressive!

Really thats more impressive than I thought, I was wrong. Even the golf balls on the top aren't custom? What does that cost new ?

The shield deflector 'spheres' are made of two halves - one of which is a moon/asteroid peice which must come from a space kit of some kind. The other half has a surface like a golf ball. Definitely not custom pieces....the engine housings are actualy large wheels with other bits you attach to them.

theres one thing it cant do......Spontaniously combust! its late and im board so forgive my destructive mind......now where did i put those matches......
lego + magnesium then add pure oxygen.... watch it spontaneously combust. But tbh, it's largely (read wholly) due to the metal. :)
