Lenovo Legion 5 Pro

ideally, I want the 17", just not sure if 1080p is enough. But the price looks really good.

It's the non-Pro that has 15 and 17 inch versions. The 5 Pro is a 16" 1600P panel only.

If it's a toss up between the 11400H and the 5800H I'd take the latter, a quick look seems to suggest the 5800H seems slightly stronger in games and much better at MT performance. Obviously it'd be worth checking which your specific software suite prefers.

Although the Intel does support Thunderbolt which may be useful to you.

You're right about 1080 feeling a little cramped, I rather have a bit more real estate for my 3D work. I think Legion 7 - 16 might be the right choice even though it is a bit over my budget.

There's little difference between the 5 Pro and the 7 if budget is an issue. Same screen, slightly better cooling and RGB are the main things.

got it down to £1574 with code - FLASHSALE so ordered. Long time since I have been a student…..lol

Nice, I was still going to get it at 1574, just tried my luck with a code.

Instock as well, so hopefully get it in a few days! :D.

This isn't the 240hz qhd version, think it's same screen as gen 6 165hz qhd, which I think was more than enough anyway.

Ram is upgradable as well if needed, I think 16gb should be enough for now. 1tb ssd as well isn't bad compared to 256gb which I got for the 3060 and that was £1000.

I'm a bit concerned...

Just noticed the maximum graphics power is only 125w for the 3070ti.

My legion 5 pro 3060 was 130w.

I thought lenovo was the best for tdp. Unless the values on the 3070ti are without dynamic boost or something?

No idea tbh I don’t really pay much attention to all that I just see how it is when it arrives. The 5 pro 3060 I have here has been great so I’m sure this will be fine.

Hmm it can mean that a 3060 out performs a 3070.. that's how much tdp makes the difference. Speaking to lenovo support now.

Pretty sure max on 3070ti is 125w. Don’t forget it has a lot more shaders, runs on a gen 4 bus at 256 bit, and more V-ram too. I’m sure it will be a nice improvement for 1600p…

It is 150w with dynamic boost enabled so I thought.

See below link I got from lenovo support. They initially said the tdp didn't matter, had to explain to them and they referred me to this website which has a more granular spec.

Just bought the new legion 5i gen 7 pro 16 with 12700h, 16gb ddr5, 3070ti and 1tb ssd for 1480. Thought this was a pretty good deal?
Damn you, just ordered one as well for £1480. I was very close to buying a 2021 many times but the design of the 5 pro didn't do it for me and they've addressed that. Also the 12th gen CPUs are looking really good and the 3070 ti looks to beat last years 3080 GPU.

Haha nice. I was on the fence, especially with the current economy, ftse is down, bills skyrocketing.. ah well.

Both of you let me know when you get a shipping confirmation!!

Just a confirmation email. My Lenovo account does not show anything and searching for the order just shows an error. See what turns up….lol
