I am looking at the 50mm 1.4. Next week going to a friends christening so would like to try and get some good pics.
It will be a fairly intimate affair so no huge crowds, hence not going for a zoom. Also will be low light at the party afterwards also.

You might want to try a 35mm for weddings. Depends on how small the event and reception is really. The 50mm is a great lens (well, the Sigma one is, I've not tried the Canon one) but could be a bit tight in certain situations. Those sort of events can need the extra width.
