Haven't had mine mapped, but personally I'd get a new clutch at the same time

This is like buying new trainers because you've decided to run faster. Surely you'd wait for them to start wearing out/slipping first?
It's mostly down to driving style anyway. Don't put it in 6th and try to rev up from 1k lol.

Best post of the day :)

I had my Punto remapped. Faster yes, but couldn't use all the power. I had my clutch done at the same time so no slipping but it did judder at around 2K if you put your foot down in 3rd, 4th and 5th. I drove around it, but it was annoying. I thought the juddering was down to the map so I got it done at another tuner. After 10K miles on a new clutch, it was slipping.

I thought - sod it. Time for a faster car.

I know what you mean, but I'd personally save the hassle of my clutch going at any moment - relying on my car to get the 37 miles to uni each day I'd rather not get halfway there and have the clutch go and leave me stranded.

I have AA cover and am aware that anything could go wrong on any journey unrelated to the clutch which would leave me stranded - but I would still pay the extra up front and get a new clutch.

That's just me though lol ;)

Like I say, personally I'd get one up front or at least have the money in the bank and sufficient breakdown cover :)
