Purchased a Macbook off the bay which arrived today. Was hoping to do a fresh install to get rid of the programs and any files left over from the last user. But there's no OS X DVD with the laptop.

I've sent a note to the seller incase he's just forgotten to pack it in with the laptop. But if not, if there's a way to download a copy to use? Or get a new copy sent out from Apple (most likely for a cost)?

Cheers mr.sly :)

Just checked the store and I can only see the retail copy for £80. No mention of an upgrade disc, don't want to spend £80 either just to do a clean install.

There's no such thing as an upgrade disc, all OS X retail discs are the same, you can do a fresh build or an upgrade from them.

Your seller should send you the DVD, all Macs come with one.

Cheers. :)

I hope he did just forget to send it out then. :)

Depending on how old the MacBook is it will be possible that the restore discs are Tiger and not Leopard. If I were to guess he probably kept Leopard on there to make it more sellable but then kept the disc for himself.

Just a potential warning :)

I would agree with this opinion, depends how strongly you want leopard you could contact ebay and complain but it might be a lot of hasle for nothing when you could just buy leopard or snow leopard when that arrives, see what the seller says first but there is no upgrade version of leopard available to buy.
