*points at memory control temp @ 57C and then fan speed*

wtf is going on lol

its going up again!!! 48C CPU and 5000RPM fan speed!

Seems its only in safari

Still doesn't settle down that much just on the desktop!!

Relax.

I leave my MacBook encoding video for days solid at a time. When it's doing that the CPU varies between 84-87C and it hasn't melted yet a year on.

I used to be paranoid about temperatures but I just uninstalled the monitoring software and adopted the "well, if it breaks it's in warranty" attitude. I'm sure if the components couldn't handle these kinds of temperatures Apple would have designed them differently.

Why have you done 4 battery cycles in less than a week by the way?

Also, wallpaper theif tbh.

Edit: Woot woot, i'm a day older! ;)

I wonder what the difference will be to temperatures on the Mac Pro. I'll have to keep an eye on that.

Apple did release a firmware update for the Mac Pro just before Leopard was released stating fan control as being refined. I'll have to see when I upgrade tomorrow.

Im not talking about the temps.

Im talking about the fan.

Its currently 30C @ 1000RPM.

However the fan speed went up to 6000 and then hovered around 40C when that should be 2000...

Fan Control is getting buggered by something

I have mine set to do 90C @ 6000RPM and anything under 40C = 1000RPM and whatever he line is between those points.

Most of the time its fine but others it just speeds up for no reason at all :|

Mac Pro fan speeds in Tiger are very low by default, even after the firmware. I've seen 80C on the CPU before I increased the minimum speeds with smcFanControl.
