Leopard updated to 10.5.4.

Paste 'em back in, have Onyx rebuild the caches and dock icons and then reboot. Should do it.

Will try that now, and report back :)

Edit: Nope that didn't work either. Will re-install Mail tomorrow, and re-apply the icon and see if that sorts it.

The 59MB update that Software Update gave me killed iSync as 10.5.1, 10.5.2 and 10.5.3 did before... but this time wireless too! It kept asking me for my WPA password which was correct.

Downloading the 554MB beast that is the combo update and installing has fixed everything and made me happy once again.

For whatever reason the small updates Apple peddle through Software Update appear to be missing things that my system really wants

If you have any problems with this update try downloading the combo update and see if that fixes it :)

On a side note, i have an imac with 2gb ram, would it be worth upgrading to 4GB? I sometimes play some games on it (Tomb Raider Anniversary, C&C3, etc), would those games make use of extra RAM and be any faster?

All updated but I've got the same problem I had when I tried 10.5.3. Some apps just don't work, skitch and numbers for example. Both crash at startup. It's a clean install of Leopard but with all my apps pulled back from Time Machine. Could that have anything to do with it?

Could be that they had supporting components installed in /Library or ~/Library, or, preferences that they need too.

Do you have to re-install every time there is an update on a hackintosh?

Blargh - dragging old app folders in to a clean OS install. That's just wrong :p

P.S. If you're using a 'Hackintosh', you should really mention that when asking for troubleshooting. It may well be a major factor, y'know.

No, I was trying a couple of things out for a mate during install so it was just one of those things. Always pull my apps back through with no problems. Is it because the apps were from 10.5.2 perhaps?

So how do I completely remove apps in OS X? Tried dragging it to the trash but when I reinstall even my last image is still shown.

Cheers

No, one shouldn't need to. I had to do a few tweaks when I went to 10.5.3 but the 10.5.4 update just went straight on from Software Update.

Updated the Mac last night. 59MB.

Also, a heads up.. AirPort Extreme firmware is available, but not through the Software update.

Fire up the AirPort Utility and it'll see it :)
