less than a week to go amd 6800 cards

anyone doing a sweepstake of what issues (if any) the 6000 series have at launch, the beta testers are all lined up and ready to go:D, cant imagine AMD doing yet another driver issue;)

Not really sure what the fuss is about.
AMD CPU supply wasn't nearly as farcical as the 3xxx GPU launch. Plenty of people have Ryzen 5 chips already with weekly shipments coming in.
I expect/hope 6000 series GPU launch is similar.

I was living by the sword on 80% people own/buy nvidia and was counting on this keeping the 20% to fight over the 6000 cards! :D

Its only reference design on day 1, so they all look the same.. it will be a week or two till you can buy the AIB custom variants.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the launch, the 5000 was OK, managed to get one like 10 minutes in.

Plus AMD market share is so much smaller (ATM), and you don't get people who 'stick to' AMD like you get with Nvidia

I'm dying to know about the pricing though. I'm thinking probably £630 for the 6800XT to have some differentiation with the 3080FE? Those are still going for £650 when they come up

Well since pre orders on the 5950x cpus arent expected to be fulfilled until March 2021 and since Nivida doesnt seem to be able to fulfil their 3080 or 3090 orders till January, I really really hope AMD have millions of these cards ready.

Otherwise scalpers will take them all, retailers will slap £100 to £200 on any they get in stock and we will all be in queues again

The 5950x is pretty heavily binned though right? The other SKUs are more plentiful

There's never going to be millions though. Lets see how combative they are against scalpers, bots and hoarders they are - there will be little excuse as they could see all the rookie mistakes nvidia made before pretending they were just popular..

5800x in short supply, sell out as soon as one appears anywhere in Europe - prices now rising on them

5900x havent been seen in stock since the 5th. Quite large numbers of pre orders reported by retailers.

5950x in very short stock at launch (as you say, high binned). I know uk retailers with waiting lists in the 100s.

Low end 5600x in plentiful supply.

We shall see how AMD perform but I still think demand > supply and its going to be a scalpers paradise again

Hard to believe AMD will have more stock then Nvidia did on launch day give how many markets their 7nm allocation is trying to service at the moment.

Gonna be a Red paper launch with prices going higher than a drug addict. OverGougers will milk both Red and Green teams.

The biggest problem I see is people already in the queue for 3000 series will order one to see which one they get first. Then cancel the other.
There are already so many examples of this within the 3000 series itself. Many people order from multiple retailers to see who deliver first. Some people even get the 2 cards and then return the one they don't want which then probably gets sent out to someone else as "new"

Scalpers only thrive when stupid people pay stupid prices because they are impatient.

Calm down people.

Great observation. The people on multiple retailers for the same card have made the queues worse. This will overlap into the 6000 series launch too. People ruin it for other people so its not just bots.

Agreed. If I can't get anything next week I'm happy to play on a console until a time where stock levels are good.

No ******* way am I being scalped for an upgrade.

I just find it a bit odd that no UK retailer has listed the items yet seeing as :

* RTX 3000 series had placeholder pages a day or two after announcement
* Ryzen 5000 series had placeholder pages about a week after announcement

The RX 6000 GPUS have had no information on the UK listings / prices / availability. To me that means one of two things

a) They are trying to avoid scalpers setting bots up for those line items before the launch (maybe told by AMD to do so, but if so why not do the same for Ryzen 5000 ? )
b) There is so little stock they are avoiding site load for something they know will be sold out within moments (if they have stock at all)

Would be nice if someone from OCUK could give an update on the above.

I hope you are right and that is why I got the email response that I did.
