Let the Quad Core era begin...QX6700 review at Anandtech...

Pretty much expected, we will definatly have to wait for software to bring the support.

Its just a big shame they couldnt use one of the upcoming games or a demo to show off the power of 4 cores, cos its still looking like even an E6600 is the best cpu considering performance/price.

Got a feeling AMDS 4X4 may proove interesting :p

it seems that the X6800 is still the fastest for gaming

Only because it has a slightly higher clock speed, As mentioned in one of the reviews, You can overclock later but you cant add more cores.... If they are the same price the quad is the one to go for.

A blue flame gets way to hot, the solder melts at very low temps. Anything from 77C to 85C . Don't drop it in water like that chap, the differential contraction would not be good for the silicon IMO.

lol sounds good, im just wondering, what if the cores are not lying 100% flat
with each other or at flat horizontally.

certainly doesnt look in the anandtechs picture

Some of the solder stays on the cores. Bitch to get off apparently, gentle lapping may get it flat enough across both cores.

lol my question was whether the 2 cores would be completely flat with each other

im using a water block so might crush one core if its at a slight angle
or sitting higher than the other.

Not really on the topic but does anyone have any ideas if these new cores will drop the current c2d prices?

Or are they slipping these in at differnt price tags to target other consumers?

According to Gibbo, the Kentsfield will not impact on the existing pricing of any of the C2D chips.

Having skimmed some of those articles, it seems that genuine multi-core gaming is still about six months off (according to Valve) - I'm going to stick with an OC'd 6300 and wait to see when the new cores actually translate into significant real-word gaming improvements, since I'm certain that the Kentsfields will certainly have fallen in price in six months time (given apart from anything else, the AMD quad core offering will then be available and established, and we can debate the relative merits of a more efficicent chip vs a chip with a better memory controller) :D

i have two of the following;

Intel's Xeon, 'Clovertown' Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5320 1.86 GHz

not sure what i'm going to do with them may be run a css server they look awesome
