Wow!

My SKY remote is missing the batteries and the back is missing exposing the batteries.

Held the remote to change the channel, and I got a massive burn from it.

Turns out to be the batteries - they were boiling hot!

They wernt near nothing hot or anything , so what happened? My brother took the wrapping (the thin layer of plastic with the energizer logo on it) off the battery, dont know if that has anything to do with it?

I threw them out to the other side of the road just incase they blew up or something. ;)

Did you get a massive burn (chemical i would guess in this case) or was they just a bit hot?

Best guess would be you joined in as part of the circuit, and from aa that would be about as much as when you but 9v battery on your tongue.

BY massive burn do you actually have blister/missing skin?

Or are we talking hot tap water hot here?

i had some AA batteries leak onto my desk one time, being the curious person i am (and not knowing the batteries had leaked) and having seen a pool of translucent liquid on my desk i decided the best way to find out what it was was to taste it...never again!

burnt like a ******, Darwin award here i come :D

I had something similar the other day...

I was sat down surfing the net when all of a sudden my leg started getting hotter and hotter very quickly, I leapt up to find the source...I had one of those square 9v batteries in my trouser pocket and I think the two terminals must have connected with a coin also in the pocket. It really had got hot and I was left wondering if it may have popped had I not got it out in time, and what damage it would have done?!

(Does all sound a bit dodge doesn't it!)

I set fire to my school shirt when I was about 14.
I had two batteries for my walkman (yes I am old! :D ) in the pocket with two coins and they made a circuit and burnt a big hole in my shirt before I noticed.

:p
