Recently I am out of work, job hunting every day, every day I am waking later and later feeling more and more deflated... Like today I woke at 11!!!!

Normally I am awake at 7am without the aid of an alarm.

Are there any tricks/tips to stop me being constantly exhausted, I am doing nothing at the moment other than sitting at a computer applying for work.

Have you thought about volunteering at a charity shop a couple of days a week? It will get you out the house and then at least there's not a big gap in your cv, your at least doing something whilst looking.

That's bloody genius!

Will give my local Oxfam a call, sure they could use a extra hand.

Wake up at 7am and go do some exercise instead.

Charities are always looking for volunteers as jack said too.

Start setting the alarm for 7 am. Get outside, be it just for shopping or a walk and do it every day. Start on some exercise and find a project that you can get involved in.

I have applied for oxfam, till position the other side of reading to me... No harm in jogging to the shifts if I get the position lol.

Cheers guys :D

One good thing about getting a job in a charity shop is that it will look good on your cv to future employers....shows them that you are prepared to work even for no reward financially....shows them that you are a go-getter :D

i've been on the dole far too long and i've just started volunteering. i'm doing some gardening for a sue ryder hospice. it's only one morning a week but it's better than doing nothing. :)

STOP THERE.... if all unemployed people did that who the hell would be complain about?

I'd check volunteering doesn't affect your JSA if you're claiming any

I found that out a few years ago, I think you end up mentally tired trying to cope with what's going on and being cooped with no exercise or fresh air.

Not on benefits, I saved up a bunch of money over the period of years I have been working for a emergency like this, running low but can cover my self for a couple more months, should have a job by then, got a bunch of interviews next week and this week so matter of time till I charm someone :)

I rang up Oxfam and stated my intention and they were very happy I was interested and were happy to carry out my application even though I might have to drop volunteering once a job offer arises.

Force yourself to get into bed lights out by 11pm. No staying up late playing games! Good luck with the Oxfam thing, you're a better man than I doing voluntary work. I'd rather explain the CV by saying I went travelling :p.
