Let's all go on strike!

Do a web search for a graph for UK Coal production over the last 150 years or so.

You will notice that there are a number of sharp dips.

These represent big strikes.

Now look closely. You will notice that after each strike, Coal production rises again, but it never ever again reaches pre-strike production levels.

Each strike has caused permanent and irreparable damage to the industry over all.

The slow decline of the UK coal industry was inevitable for many reasons, But it could have had a much softer landing but for the behaviour of the NUM.

It was the NUM that killed it.

Rubbish, It was a political agenda that killed it..... Look at all the laws they were "introduced" to aid said political agenda.

The country does need to go on strike if only to watch London burn.

Train drivers on 40 grand a year is hardly reflective of the "little people"

So what would you pay a train driver, in charge of the safety of hundreds of people?

£30k?

£25k?

£15k?

Do you want someone with a brain, who can think and react to possible hazards in a timely fashion, possibly preventing accidents... or do you want your trains driven by the cheapest possible driver they can find?

Neither, a control room and a controller is more than enough.

These union members are all communist filthy animals who should be sent to gulags in the West country. How very dare they attempt to defend their rights by striking and affecting us customers.

Utterly appalling behaviour which should be stamped out in this country immediately.

Yay baggage handlers and check in staff are doing a 48 hr strike starting 23rd

Oh yeah posted above, please be more obvious in future just for me, thanks

Since in the next few years employees rights will be severely reduced including for some employment tribunals, maternity leave, minimum wage etc if the Tories get their way, I can see there will be the need for more Unions and strikes.

Yea but fewer people are joining unions, young people have been brainwashed into thinking unions are bad, although some deserve that description, some are really good for both employees and employers.

I have plenty of reasons to strike as a nurse but I wouldn't as I actually care about my patients.

Don't like your job? Get a ****ing new one.

Strikes should have been left in the seventies were they belonged.

Plenty of other people will fill your place, move on if you are not happy.

Yes, very true, but what if you lose your entitlement to paid holidays, sick pay maximum hours etc, what would you do then.

I bet you still have a defined benefit pension, most people have very little.

By the way I respect nurses and think they do a great job, people who have a grievance are not necessarily greedy.
