Let's all learn what an acronym is

FUBAR = Functional Utility Bar (STanley Tools) according to the Acronym Finder site.

I like That Is To Say :D

GOLF
Gentleman Only Ladies Forbidden

That's another one that isn't actually an acronym, bit like POSH (Port Out, Starboard Home) - golf is most likely to have evolved from the Dutch word "kolf" meaning club. Someone has invented a meaning to try and explain the etymology of the word but it's completely fabricated.

Recently I've been dealing with people writing "ISA Account Number XXXX" - ok it might look better but it is completely tautologuous if you know what the acronym ISA actually stands for.

Isn't that wrong as well though? RAID already includes "Array" so you should never say "RAID arrays"

Nope, that's correct English grammer. Read some style guides.

AC current, RAID array, PIN number are all correct.

I hope you are being facetious!

It's a joke, extracted from popular comedy show Fonejacker, in which a man of questionable nationality communicates via telephone to an unsuspecting member of staff in a technology retail outlet that he would like a "turv" (TV) specifically a "lookerduh turv" (LCD TV), preferably that is "Ready for the huhd" (HD) and that would play "Doovd" (DVD).

Congratulations on taking it way too seriously.

That's one of my pet hates. People who don;t know what the acronym stands for and then adds the same word afterwards eg "ram memory"

BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) is my pet hate for this.

'Can you please reboot the BES Server?'

'You're a plank, aren’t you?'

Yes, Personal Identification Number number makes perfect sense... It's only "correct" because lots of idiots don't actually know what N in PIN stands for.

First three pages of grammar guidance using goggle all state it is redundant and hence incorrect to use number after PIN.

Point me to the guides you are using please?
