Lets SAVE £5000 a year ! Who with me

I was the other way round, the "I could drop dead tomorrow" attitude got me into a lot of debt. I no longer want to owe a penny to anyone, no bank or person and it's liberating

That mentality doesn't mean you have to run up debt. I don't run up debts, however I do work hard for the extra cash to do things I'd never normally do.
 
Isn't the OP the guy on $15k a year, aged 30, living in his brother/friend's house? I'm not knocking the savings part, it just seems an odd target given the circumstances.

I've probably got the wrong guy though :o

Try being a contractor. It forces you to save for a rainy day and no job :)

Plus side, I can save about £3000 a month currently, but my current contract is looking very dodgy at the moment at the worst time of the year.
