Do you travel to the mainland much in your car on a ferry? If not a hot hatch to do 35mph in seems quite wasted. You get all the drawbacks of a hot hatch (worse economy, hard suspension,more expensive parts like tyres) with none of the fun bits of owning one (driving more than 35mph).

Because the world is full of stupidity, Having driven in the Islands I can' believe some of the crazy cars people choose the place is tiny the roads are narrow and twisty and the speed limit is really low!

why don't you look for an even narrower car with a decent boot (estate?)

Then look up Engine sizes after
