So hopefully my house will be completing soon and I'll be in need of sofa and chair.

What recommendations have people got for sofa retailers? Has anybody used Sofa Store before? I like some of their designs but I want something a bit more modern.

My current sofa is from sofa store. It's the Chloe, which I am sure they still have. Very pleased with it and a price I felt was very reasonable.

All jokes aside, how are their sofas?
Are they shocking quality or are they not actually that bad?

The cheap rubbish they sell is just that. Cheap rubbish.

We have a 3 and 2 seater sofa from them. They weren't cheap but they are good quality.

You can spend a fortune. Have a look at gplan for expensive.

If you are thinking about having kids they'll ruin them so factor that into your choice.

I got my two from Next - really nice styles all-around at the time (not looked lately). Didn't like the styles in any of the big sofa sheds, and didn't want anything too pricey from the boutiques.

7 ish years in, they're holding up ok. Kids have started to do their work on them though :(

Having had the same question myself a few months back, DFS got surprisingly good reviews across the board. We ended up with a sofa and chair from there and "sofa" so good.

bought my sofa from scs 8 years ago,

3 piece leather with recliners on the 3 seater, the two seater and the single.

8 years on its worn ok, for the money, £800 collected from store.

the leather is wearing thin on my mrs side, but other than that its ok, apart from wear and tear.

We are only small though shes 9 stone and im 11 stone. My dog has made some marks on it but thats our fault not theirs

We've got multiyork and they're very well constructed. They feel premium but the downside is that they cost £4k for two extra large and we have a 4 and a 1 year old, so are in permanent fear of them wrecking them.

I've had a couple now from DFS and the quality isn't bad against the price if you go in with your eyes open and ignore the sale nonsense. I have a corner one and its starting to look a bit tired due to 4 years of teenage abuse (seriously, why can't they just SIT down) but I don't think its done bad. Will replace when the kids go ;)

We got our 2 seater and 3 seater semi analine leather sofas from Sofaworks (http://www.sofaworks.co.uk/sofas/kalina in Oxford Scout Leather).

Great buying experience, and they did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it.

The in store sales experience was great too.

We are really pleased with the sofas, but the trustpilot reviews for Sofaworks are a mixed bag. Sound like some people have had real headaches. Fortunately we didn't check that website until after we had bought the sofas or we may have never even gone into the store! Really glad we did though :)

Just ordered the Manor from DFS and it was all very nice relaxed, the chap was who dealt with me was great.

I told him i just wanted the SOFA with no extra this and that and he seemed more relived than me about it. Although he did get a extra £5 out of me fore children in need and the minuscule chance to get it for free.

Mind you I did go there about 17:30

Had the 4 seat Freya Lounger from DFS for about 3 months now in a new extension we had built. Happy with the price and the quality. Very comfy. I never fell asleep on the sofa in the living room, but I've had quite a few nights where I've woken up at 7am the following day on the Freya! :D

One little side story though. We have a pine/oak company near us that advertises about their specialist and bespoke furniture. After going to the DFS showroom, both the sofa and dining one's ,we popped in to this specialist companies showroom. They had 4 DFS dining tables on show, exactly the same wood, seat, cloth, optional extras etc and they were £3-500 dearer each! Cheeky ********!!
