Let's talk suits...

In regards to getting another pair of trousers, any grey jobbies from M&S will probably work as it's a pretty standard colour, but I'd have to explore that avenue first! Obviously, they're the bits along with the shirts which will deteriorate quicker so if it's possible I would like to get those machine washable.

What's the best way to wash a dry-clean only suit between dry-cleans? I'm thinking in terms of accrued sweat, bacteria and bad smells, etc. Wearing it for the best part of a year with only airing it out seems a little... minging to me.

Most Department stores will offer a tailoring service. You can do this yourself by finding a tailor and dealing with them directly though.

I'd only suggest that if you go commando. If you're wearing underwear then that shouldn't ever be an issue, just wear boxers. I'd be slightly worried if your legs sweat during the day :)

Are you in London? Dress2Kill are currently doing bespoke suits for £325. The lead time is about 6 weeks but it's a great deal if you're not in a hurry.

Just so no one is confused:

Dress2kill and other places that send of work at made to measure suits.

Bespoke is when a pattern is made from your body shape, these other places are using standard templates and then slightly altering them. They will undoubtedly be better than off the rack, but are not bespoke.

Also on their site I can't see the £325.
 
In your budget range you shouldn't go for a bespoke suit in my opinion. Bespoke suits are nice but the price range is huge (from about £300 up to several thousand) and the ones at the bottom end of the scale tend to be pretty bargain basement quality. A big chunk of the £300 you pay for the bottom of the range is for the tailor's time leaving very little for some decent material that isn't going to wear out after 2 weeks. You only start to see real quality out of bespoke at about the £700 mark. At your price range M&S are the best option.

king and allen that I linked to are bespoke with baste fitting etc. (unless you choose their bargain basement offer where the suit is still cut for you but you do not get a baste fitting and you have a choice of not terribly nice fabrics at that price point)
 
I bought a suit from debenhams for £100 and try not to wear it all the time. I just bought some new shirts from tm lewin cause i am starting at a new job and my shirts were realy old. They cost me quiet a bit and will try not wear them all the time.

I have another suit from M&S that i bought that is not the right size, not sure why i bought it. I think if you are going to spend £200 you might as well get a fitted suit from savile row made up. I can't afford to buy expensive suits and thought the one for £100 from debenhams was realy good value.

He's either lying, or talking about a completely different "Savile Row", presumably somewhere in Vietnam.

Oh, and M&S for a suit, but make sure you get the right size/cut.
 
Maybe he means £2000?

Or something like The Saville Row company and not tailors on the row like G&H

If it's warm they do. Your body perspires to cool down remember, sweat is also unavoidable if you happen to walk anywhere.

Plus what about dirt you might pick on them, or the many aromas you encounter through the day. Surely you'd need to wash them at some point? :eek:
