The cars the star ask Russell !

Knighthood , yea ok Sir Lewis - so tell me what have you done for the UK ? You race for a German team , live in Monaco , actively promote a neo Marxist political movement and drive the best F1 car ever engineered.

Am I missing something?

Pretty much all of his achievements TBH.

We have this little thing called freedom of speech. Perhaps you've heard of it?

Sure do but I don’t agree with politics in Sport , if it wasn’t for the fact he was winning everything in such a dominant car can you be sure the heads at Stuttgart wound put up with it ? I don’t think so .

Politics should stay out of sport and BLM are a political movement. .

Hamilton’s a clown . There you go that’s my Freedom of speech

Like a few others on here, i think you have a basic misunderstanding of how the honours list works. Lewis would have been contacted at least a few months ago and informed, he would have been given the chance to accept or decline the honour at that time. The fact that his name was on the published list tells us all that he has already accepted the knighthood, otherwise his name wouldn't be on the list.

I didn't know this. Thanks for pointing it out.

So - Sir Lewis it is then!

I could say many things on the social and political aspects of BLM, racism and injustice - but Lewis is a kid that's done good when the cards have been statisticly dealt against him. A large chunk of his success has been down to the commitment and sacrifices of his parents. But the rest? Determination, skill and ambition. And sure, a good lump of luck for good measure here and there.

Lewis is a far better role model than many and I really hope he manages to go on and use his fame and status to affect some positive change and that his posturing doesent end up being hollow and populist-appeasing with very little substance.

Pretty much all of his achievements TBH.

7X world championships.

Ok let’s break that down . 2014 onwards was the start of the Hydbrid era and it been won by Mercedes every year - mmmm might tell you how dominant that car actually is. Russell made Hamilton and Bottas look like a total pair of idiots .

Any of the current grid line up could win in that car .

Thats 6 of his world Championships - right time right place . The 1st was 2008 and yes I’ll doth my cap total class but it’s not been repeated since.

I’m sure we will see him win another championship this year in said dominant car , hopefully Alonso can mix things up though.

Roll on 2022 and hopefully we’ll see the back of him and he go go and live in America , as I’ve stated he’s offered nothing to this country and it’s just a populist knighthood nothing more in my book .

Roll model , don’t make me laugh . Any fool can become a roll model when there’s no competition.

The British Empire was possible the least racist empire ever as it subjugated everyone equally - even to the point of sending it’s own citizens to die of fever and/or killed by wildlife in Australia or the West Indies.

Serious atrocities were carried out by the British Empire. Trying to justify it is like saying you've got terminal cancer but it could have been a far worse kind of terminal cancer. You've still got a horrible disease that is going to kill you. Yes there were far more barbaric empires but when you were under the foot of the British Empire that would hardly have been a conciliation.

I take it you think the same of British sports stars who moved to the Isle of Man to avoid tax? And all the football players who recently voted unanimously to continue to kneel before the game kicks off?

This nonsense that people go after someone because they don't like his political speech while they spout their own political views on the internet  Just because they have a bigger megaphone than you as they are at the top of their game doesn't mean they have to keep their mouths shut. That applies to both sides of the political spectrum. He's an incredibly successful sportsman who got to where he is through talent, dedication and a family that backed him. You don't know what he had to face coming through the ranks as a young man, you've not walked in his shoes. He was the first black man to make it in racing. No way he didn't come across racism from the establishment along the way. It reminds me of when the Williams sisters burst on to the tennis scene and some of the horrible ***** that was said about them. If you think that doesn't have an effect on people you are being naive.

Being a sportsman doesn't mean you give up your right to free speech. Gary Lineker gets similar treatment on Twitter. "Stick to football Gary" is the message because they don't like that his speech doesn't agree with their's. He and Lewis are free to say what they think and the day they aren't is the day we have a serious problem.

Yes I do in fact , football as far as I’m concerned comes under the same banner. I think you will find the boo’s at recent games are not because fans on the terraces are racist but they come to football to get away from crap like this at the weekend and not to have it have it rammed down there throats. Some of my friends are life long Colchester United fans and booed when they were allowed back last month , when asked why they just said there sick and tired of BLM and want to watch football. Do we really hear racism from the terraces any more ? I go to quite a few West Ham home games ( all fool me ) and really don’t hear jack , I know what racist chants are and heard it at the Boleyn in the 80’s , it wasn’t pleasant.

Football internally has enough black players to sort out its own race issues. Let’s see how long this kneeling is maintained when the terraces are full again , not long I would suggest.

FYI I’ve had my own diversity issues with my wife being a foreign national and different skin colour , it’s just easy to ignore it . Yes she Thai and I’ve head it all , how much did you pay for her , where’s the ping ping balls ect ect.

So no I’ve never walked in his shoes , the Williams sisters shoes or any other sports person who are top of their game , unless your missing my point here ( and I think you are ) is that Lewis Hamilton should rise above it , he’s chosen not to so will be criticised accordingly.

I totally understand there are issue in America with the Black community and the police but do we people really think that’s going on over here.

I stand by what I’ve said , he should just shut up and drive .

sadly I still hear racist comments at football. Nowhere near what I used to hear but I still hear it far too often when I go to Spurs. Still hear anti Semitic chants from Chelsea fans and West Ham fans as well. Son gets “DVD” shouted at him by opposition fans.

The players voted to continue because it’s really just an extension of Kick It Out but the outrage at the murder of George Floyd was the trigger they’d been looking for to up the statement. All the players have team mates of every colour and culture in their clubs. They are friends and I can totally see why they want to continue it. It isn’t just for the British fans either, they know it’s broadcast all around the world. It matters.

You and your spouse are fully aware racist ***** are still everywhere as you have to put up with their comments. You shouldn’t have to put up with their comments. No one should have to turn the other cheek. Nothing is achieved appeasing these people.

As for fans not liking it when crowds are allowed back in. I think you’ll find they will be in the tiny minority. Not heard any booing other than Millwall but who is surprised. A fan base of knuckle dragging scum who pride themselves on being that. For those fans that don’t like it, don’t go, they won’t be missed.

Again no one should have to rise above anything. Why should they? Just because you are paid £m doesn’t mean you should just take it on the chin. They are free to speak their opinions like everyone else. They aren’t inciting violence or using hate speech, far from it in fact. Some people just want them to shut up as they don’t like their speech. Sorry it doesn’t work like that.

Here is a case from yesterday.
