I webnoted and yes they are out of stock and having a delivery "soon".

I've emailed to cancel as I was buying this card for this weekend so pretty pointless buying it really if I don't have it :(

I'll buy 4x16Gb cards when I get my 7D.

That's a *lot* of capacity.

I'm pretty trigger happy and the 1DsIII creates 25MB raws. It is a pretty heavy day when I switch to my second 16GB card. On the rare occasions when I go past that, I'm happy to use the stack of old 4s and 8s that rattle round in the bag.

I would hesitate to spend hard-earned on four of them unless you really think you'll need them.

There has been a stock issue in the warehouse. The Lexar delivery is in stock tomorrow and your order will be sent out for delivery on Friday. Sorry for the delay and the inconvenience caused.
 
64gb divided by 20mb RAW files = 3200 shots? Or about 7 mins of continous bursting!!!!


For large amounts of burst shooting at sports your likley to be shooting jpeg images anyway because they are fast to use, process and send (and TBH often you would be shooting in 8mpixel jpeg mode if your shooting for a paper/web use). So say around 8mb a shot in 18 mega pixel jpeg is 8000 shots on 64gb of cards.

Honestly, buy 3x 8gb cards. 24gb is enough for RAW files that are going to be edited like landscape, portrait or wildlife shots (1200 of them!!) or jpegs that are shot at sports and press events (3000 jpegs- loads more if your shooting medium sized ones).

I have just got used to the larger file size of the 5D2.

I use a 16 gb card, and then have my old cards - 4 x 4 gb and a few 2 gb ones kicking around. I've come nowhere near the 16 gb capacity, yet, and editing / deleting on the fly makes for even more space. Only if you're into some lengthy video would I bother with more than a couple of 16 gb cards.

According to the reviews i've seen RAWs are between 22 and 32 (at max ISO) Mb.

I will probably go for 4x8Gb as I don't like having all my eggs in one basket, so to speak.

1280 shots over 4 cards should be good and I will always shoot full RAW as the one time your not on that setting you will need it. Hard-disk and memory card space is cheap!

However Im yet to find out how much 30 mins of 1080p or 720p/60 (specific needs for 60FPS ;)) is from a 7D.

To give you an idea I will get about 150 mins on a 32gb and thats on the AVCHD format so the 7D will be about that 35mins on a 8gb card.

599 RAW @ ISO 200
582 RAW @ ISO 400
556 RAW @ ISO 800
524 RAW @ ISO 1600
483 RAW @ ISO 3200

128 images difference :o quite amazing.
