Lexus CT200h??

I've had a few as courtesy cars and I wouldn't consider buying one. It lacks performance which would be fine if they hadn't crippled it with a 'sporty' ride so it ends up feeling like a car trying to be sporty but with not enough performance and zero driver feedback. Shame really as if they'd given it nice comfortably bouncy suspension it would have been great as a comfortable run around as they are well equipped, feel well screwed together and the hybrid drivetrain is great for general wafting.

Ok. I borrowed on from a friend for the day and went into central london.

I was not looking for a fast car but this is just awful so so slow so it's a no go. It's a shame as it looked like a good idea.

You sure you didn't have it in 'eco' mode? My old one in 'sport' was no slouch. When not in sport, the throttle response is delayed though.

For the most part I enjoyed my ownership of the CT200h, reliable as ever with Lexus/Toyota but it had a small boot and the MPG wasn't that good. Quite crashy ride and I'm glad I had one as a company car rather than buying outright. I wouldn't say it's a bad car by any means but there are better options out there.

It has the same powertrain as the Auris and Prius (all the same basic underpinnings). I have a friend with an Auris Hybrid and it's no hot hatch but I wouldn't describe it as slow. It has a fair bit of shove, actually. With about 135bhp and helped by the instantaneous available torque of the electric motor it gets off the line quite tidily. I'd second the question about Eco mode. If you can live with the fairly monotonous nature of the CVT 'box then either the Lexus or the Auris (or the Prius but I hate them for some reason) are decent cars, especially for urban duties where they're extremely economical and a far, far nicer drive than a chuggy rattly diesel. The Auris has a soft ride so if that's important then perhaps compare it to the Lexus and see which you prefer.

That may be it. I kept it in Eco I will try it in sport but if you have to pay congestion charge it's not worth it. Some how I got the idea you did you have to pay the charge in it.
